Dr. Robert King

As one of only a few board-certified orthopedic surgeons in West Texas with specialized fellowship training in adult reconstructive surgery, Dr. Jordan Simpson offers his patients access to cutting-edge technologies combined with the most current surgical techniques. Dr. Simpson specializes in the surgical and non-surgical management of arthritis. He is specially trained in adult reconstructive procedures including partial knee replacement, primary and revision total knee and total hip replacement, hip fracture repair, and shoulder replacement procedures. For the most complex cases, Dr. Simpson utilizes new technologies, including robotics and digital templating, to provide optimal outcomes. Dr. Simpson offers minimally invasive surgical techniques to enhance recovery times and improve surgical outcomes. His goal is to provide state-of-the-art care right here in West Texas.

A Lubbock native, Dr. Simpson attended Monterey high school where he was an accomplished athlete and student. The Texas Tech University School of Medicine pre-accepted Dr. Simpson into medical school when he was just a high school senior. For his undergraduate studies, Dr. Simpson graduated summa cum laude from the Honors College of Texas Tech University majoring in zoology with a biochemistry minor. In medical school at the Texas Tech University Health Science Center, Dr. Simpson graduated in the top 10% of his class and he was named to the distinguished Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honor Society, a selection reserved for those who demonstrate the characteristics of an excellent physician. Following completion of medical school, Dr. Simpson completed a five-year orthopedic surgery residency at the Texas Tech University Health Science Center. After residency, Dr. Simpson obtained further specialized training in adult reconstructive procedures by completing a fellowship at the prestigious Houston Methodist Hospital under Dr. Stephen Incavo and Dr. Kenneth Mathis. Dr. Simpson’s fellowship trained him in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted knee replacement procedures and accelerated recovery protocols. Additionally, Dr. Simpson’s fellowship provided specialized training in hip preservation, hip resurfacing, and hip replacement surgery utilizing alternative surgical approaches to the hip including anterior, posterior, and superior approaches.

Prior to joining the group at Lubbock Sports Medicine, Dr. Simpson served as an attending physician in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation in the adult reconstructive surgery division of Texas Tech University Health Science Center, performing and teaching resident physicians advanced surgical techniques. Highly regarded by both patients and other physicians, Dr. Simpson has received multiple career accolades including being named twice as Attending Physician of the Month of the University Medical Center Health System.

Dr. Simpson has published multiple scholarly articles on his orthopedic surgery research in the Journal of Arthroplasty, Arthroplasty Today, and Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. He was appointed to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Hip and Knee Content Committee to create educational materials for practicing surgeons and resident physicians. Dr. Simpson is involved in numerous medical societies including being a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a Fellow in the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and he is an active member of the Texas Orthopedic Association, the Clinical Orthopedic Society, the American Medical Association, and the Lubbock/Garza County Medical Society.

Outside of work, Dr. Simpson enjoys traveling, golfing, and spending time at the lake with family and friends. He is an avid reader, specifically of American history, and an avid Texas Tech sports fan. Dr. Simpson is married to attorney Sarah Simpson, and his most fulfilling role is being a dad to his three rowdy boys—Luke, Levi and Lincoln.
